ALCOTEX | Special Features

Lightweight and Rigid
ALCOTEX materials are extremely durable and lightweight, compared with other materials such as aluminum sheet, stainless sheet, acrylic sheet, enamel etc. Detailed comparisons are tabulated as follows.

Product Structure
Material Thickness (mm) Weight (kg) Density(g/?)
ALCOTEX 4.0 5.44 1.36
Aluminum Sheet 3.3 8.94 2.73
Steel Sheet 2.4 18.86 7.86
Acrylic Sheet 9.2 11.04 1.20
Enamel 2.0 16.06 8.03
Note ALCOTEX weighs less than 40% of an aluminum sheet.  Aluminum sheet and enamel compared weights 9 12 kg and 24 - 26 kg, respectively, when reinforcement is added to maintain its flatness.

Material Density(g/?) Therm. Conductivity (?/m hr?C)
ALCOTEX 1.36 0.19
Aluminum 2.73 180.00
Iron 7.90 39.00
Copper 8.90 320.00
Slate 2.24 1.09
Concrete 2.20 1.40
Asbestos Cement 1.15 0.13
Plywood 0.60 0.13
Plate Glass 2.50 0.65
Polyethylene 0.91 0.29
Water 0.10 0.52
Air 0.0013 0.022

Flatness
The roll coated coils pass through a precise leveling process. ALCOTEX is roduced under the feed block roll injection system, not a pressing system, which allows the superiority in flatness to be maintained.
(Max. flatness 2mm/1,220mm : 0.16% of the length)

Workability
The excellent physical characteristics of ALCOTEX, such as Tensile Bonding Strength, Simple Bending Strength, Bending Moment, etc., expand the boundaries of panel fabrication. These same properties also allow you increase fabricating stability and installation safety. Moreover, the P.E. core between the aluminum is soft enough that fabrication is much easier and more convenient. This workability allows crisp lines and bold curves for an exquisite touch to your creation.

Color Uniformity and Durability
The PVdF pre-coated surface allows ALCOTEX to retain excellent color consistency and to diversify colors by eliminating the color inequality and surface unevenness. With the stability of PVdF paints through high temperature heat treatment and the chemical characteristic of fluorine, ALCOTEX has excellent durability to withstand any kind of chemical action such as foul weather, infrared rays, ultraviolet rays, etc.

Characteristics of PVdF (Poly-vinylidene Flouride) Resin
  • Consists of hydrogen(H), carbon(C) and fluorine(F)
  • As an atom, fluorine has the highest electric negative and the coherent distance of fluorideand carbon is very close (1.36A), PVdF has higher energy (110Kcal/Mole) when combined.
The fluorine's spiral structure protects the combination of carbon and hydrogen and thus can
block ultraviolet rays penetration. Under these characteristics, PVdF paints offer excellent
corrosion, chemical & pollution resistance, superb color retention, etc.
  • With its nature of softness, 60~80% crystallized high polymerized resin, PVdF paints havepowerful adhesion strength and will not crack under any kind of fabrication condition. Even
under higher temperature, over 300 C, PVdF hardly generates pyrolysis.
  • As PVdF paints consist of fine particle pigments, it maximizes architectural beauty. This economical effect eliminates the need for costly repairs.
  • KYNAR 500 and HYLAR 5000 are the most recognized PVdF resins. ALCOTEX coil coaters use paints supplied by PPG Industries Corp. PPG is recognized as the world leader in the
    production of PVdF paint.
Corrosion Resistance
Aluminum is the most suitable metallic material to resist severe air pollution. It generates an oxide of aluminum (Al2O3) membrane and prevents subsidence of corrosion when corroded. Therefore, the ALCOTEX Aluminum Composite Panel is the most suitable metal material for severe air polluted environments. Because ALCOTEX uses aluminum alloy A3000 series, which has corrosion resistance strength, and is prime coated with chromate on the aluminum skin to prevent corrosion, ALCOTEX guarantees a semi-permanent life span.
